Estimate From A to Z
|
|
We greet the customer with smiles, and we do not wear shoes
when entering a home for cleaness.
* We gurantee to be on time for estimation.
We measure the area of the floor (See
How to measure).
We show color selection for that particular floor, and will provide information
of the type of the laminate floor you need, and their warranties.
* At this time, we will answer any questions a homeowner may have.
We explain all the technical things such as:
- How to go about installing under the oven, dishwasher,
refrigerator, pedestal, and vanities.
- What is the condition of the subfloor.
- Explain how it will look when you rearrange hand-rails
or cabinets.
- What kind of transition pieces we will be using for
each different connections.
- Whether to cut doors due to the height differences.
- Whether carpet is salvagable, or not (if not,
we will remove, and haul them free of charge).
- Explain about acclimating the laminate floor.
- Explain how to take care of the floor, and
what things you need after the floor is installed.
We give actual bottom line price while we do estimate and set up
a schedule date if the homeowner agrees with our presentation.
- We answer questions a homeowner may have at this time.
- We set up what date and what time for which we will come to do installation.
We say farewells before we leave the house.

How to measure
|
|
To know how much flooring you need to buy, all you really need to know is the
square footage of the space to be covered. And that's easy to calculated,
is it just length times width? Well, maybe not, if your room isn't a simple
square or rectangle.
For complicated shapes, draw a plan like the one at below. Divide the room
into sections based on simple shapes like squares, triangles, and circles.
Then measure each separately, write your result in the box, and add them up.
Add 10 percent for installation errors and to have a few planks left over
for future repairs.
Write a list of any new trim pieces you want and mark on your plan where they
will go.
How to calulate Square Footage
Take all measurements in inches; calulate the area as follows;
- Rectangles (A): Multiply length by width.
- Right triangles (B and C): Multiply length by
width and divide the answer by 2.
- Circles (D): For full circles, multiply 3.14 by the
radius squared (r)². Divide this by 2 for half circles, etc.
- Total everything and divide by 144 to convert to square feet. Add
10% for waste. Round up to the next whole number.
|
Calculation Result From above example |
|
Total Square Footage to Buy
134.25 + 13.43 (10%) = 147.68
Round up
The final Square Footage = 148
